Name: Ingemar

Age: 26

Are you a designer? Why or why not?

Yes, I see myself as a designer because I love the process of an object being “born.”

One word to describe your take on design:

The last thing you made:

The Popsicle Chair

The next thing you want to make:

A canvas laminated etagere or bookshelf

A designed object you adore:

Pierre Grosjean’s Children’s Desk Chair / Amlash Bull Vessel

A designed object you can’t stand the sight of:

Industrial pipe furniture

A moment of pure creative joy:

When I find myself dancing while setting up a table saw.

When we say “designing the future,” what comes to mind?

Creating objects with permanence - so that time can make sense of them, and we can revisit our motivations and aspirations as the world/environment changes around us.

If you could show your work to anyone in the world, who would it be?

Todd Oldham

Your aesthetic embodied as a...

sound: cartoon blinking

color: peach

texture: corduroy

Your *grail*: if you could own one iconic design work, what would it be?

Perfect condition Volvo 240

What’s next for you?

Starting a residency this summer and developing a fully conceived line of furniture!

Pink Essay is a creative studio & platform re-designing design culture. We make experiences + exhibitions + archives, synthesizing the digital and physical.

We believe that good design is democratic, accessible, antiracist, sustainable and collaborative.

Design culture is on the move: people are excited and ready to see what we can make when we believe in the power of objects as tools of human growth and community connection.

We’re here to make connections, tell stories, and build a new design culture.
