DESIGNHEADS: Sean Desiree
What’s design got to do with it? DESIGNHEADS is an interview series profiling the next generation of designers, tastemakers, and creatives **shaking up** the design world.
Name: Sean Desiree
Location: New York
Are you a designer? Why or why not? Yes. Anyone who adds an original object to the world is a designer and that’s what I do.
One word to describe your take on design: Instinctual
The last thing you made: fence for my garden
The next thing you want to make: A public art interactive sculpture entitled “Let Us Keep You Warm.” It utilizes sustainable building practices and recycled materials to generate and emulate heat for the public. It will be on view at Socrates Sculpture Park from September to March 2023.
A designed object you adore: Yinka Ilori designed the Parsloes playground in London and I really loved his take on a Merry Go Round. It is more accessible and vibrant.
A moment of pure creative joy: When I pause and feel the freedom of working for myself.
When we say “designing the future,” what comes to mind? Simply creating what we need that doesn’t already exist for a more accessible and equitable world.
If you could show your work to anyone in the world, who would it be? My grandmother
Your aesthetic embodied as a...
sound? Wood block ensemble
What’s next for you? Releasing a new furniture series and designing my future home and studio. ︎
